Company Profile:
The Philippine Christian Literature Inc. (PCLI) and its ministry, the Philippine Christian BookStores (PCBS) began as a vision of two missionaries who recognized the important role that Christian literature plays in the spiritual growth of a Christian. It all started when a missionary couple, Alfie and May Johnston, came to the Philippines in 1952, three years after China fell into the hands of the Communists in 1949.
Under the China Inland Mission, (which later evolved into the Overseas Missionary Fellowship) the Johnstons started publishing Christian tracts and booklets along with other missionaries in Manila. So intense was their calling to distribute and make Christian literature available to as many people as possible that they even went to the extent of displaying their goods right along the sidewalks (”banketas”) of Manila.
